Generally in India snakes are treated as the incarnation of Lord Shiva on earth. However, on the contrary to it, when Indians find a snake in their house than many of them resort to kill it to get protected.
In my case, I had a fascinating experience. It was winter and some drizzling also occurred. So, the land was wet and all of a sudden two large cobras started the so called mating dance. This was the first time in my life that I witness something like this. I watched the whole activities from some distance. However, some of the passerby saw the same, they started to gather the in numbers. Then I was surprised to find some of them who started praying by folding their hands. Thereafter, some people started taking out their handkerchiefs from their pockets. I was interested as to what is going to happen next. A boy then attempted to touch the handkerchief on the body of the snake and bring it back. I anxiously inquired about the unusual activity that the boy was doing and what I heard from a folk took me by surprise. He told that the sight of the snakes dancing is regarded as a very holy one. He explained that if a cloth touched from the body of the pair of snakes is kept with oneself than the person with the cloth would easily succeed in all ventures through out his life and he will become rich.
There are astonishing rituals followed in several places of the world by people from several religions.
